I graduated with a BSc Hons in Physiotherapy from the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland in 2007. I immediately started working in the NHS gaining experience in Orthopedics, Musculoskeletal, Care of the elderly and Neurology. Very early in my career I developed a strong preference to work with patients with neurological conditions. I worked as a Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist in the NHS before leaving for Canada.
I have extensive formal and informal training related to Neurological conditions. I have completed a MSc Interdisciplinary Stroke Care Module at The University of Ulster, N.Ireland.
And introduction to Bobath: The assessment and treatment of Adults with Neurological conditions. I have a strong passion to improve Quality of Life post Stroke.
I moved to Canada in 2016 and started working as a Physiotherapist in a Vancouver Coastal Health residential care setting. During this time I developed a pathway for Stroke patients admitted to residential care following admission to hospital with a new Stroke. This pathway aimed to improve quality of life post Stroke, and with the whole team approach led to the discharge home of a number of stroke survivors. At Trimetrics a full neurological physiotherapy Assessment will be completed, treatment goals will be identified and outcome measure used to identify improvements. Incorporating improvements into daily life is part of the course of treatment.
I started working at Trimetrics in 2017 and love the opportunity to help people with a variety of conditions. I have a strong passion to provide good quality goal directed Physiotherapy intervention. I have completed many courses with the aim to treat the ‘whole person’.
I am a fully certified acupuncturist and Pilates instructor. And here I would like to mention that Pilates can be excellent treatment approach for people with Neurological conditions.
I have done extensive Manual Therapy courses including Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS). Therefore I can treat any injury and manage pain that IS or NOT related to a Neurological condition. I have also completed basic and advanced courses to treat vestibular conditions.
Outside work I love spending time with my twins, travelling, socializing and the great outdoors.
