Staff News: Amy Tao

AmyAmy Tao, Registered Physiotherapist

Amy is a graduate of the Master of Physical Therapy program at the University of British Columbia and previously completed a B.Sc.(Kinesiology) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) at Simon Fraser University. Prior to becoming a physiotherapist, she worked as a professional dancer, dance teacher, kinesiologist, and Pilates and GYROTONIC® instructor. She believes in a holistic approach to treatment and is interested in addressing the underlying causes as well as the symptoms of injury using a combination of manual therapy, acupuncture, exercise and education.

Amy is excited to be part of the team at Trimetrics and has a strong interest in Pilates-based rehabilitation for various conditions including chronic low back and neck pain. She has experience treating orthopaedic and sports injuries and has also worked with clients with stroke, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological conditions. Amy particularly enjoys incorporating her movement background into her practice as a physiotherapist and helping empower clients to become active participants in their own recovery.

She is dedicated to continuing education and has taken additional post-graduate training in Anatomical Acupuncture, STOTT Pilates Rehabilitation, and Real Time Ultrasound Imaging. In her spare time, Amy enjoys taking dance classes, practicing yoga and Pilates, walking the seawall, and enjoying the beautiful outdoors of the North Shore.
